ABOUT OLENTANGY MODEL UNITED NATIONS
WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?
Olentangy Model United Nations is an extracurricular program for students grades 6-12 in the Olentangy Local School District, available in all high and middle schools. The program gives students opportunities to build upon research, debate, and public speaking skills through a mock United Nations experience. Students will pick a country; research one of its issues; prepare a solution to present to their peers at a culminating end-of-year summit.
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE PROGRAM DEVELOP?
If you are interested in current events, global issues, and debate, this is the club for you! Students will develop a passion for solving world crises, while also gaining public speaking, group collaboration, leadership, and debate skills.
WHAT IS THE SUMMIT?
The summit is an event for all groups across the program. Students will present their resolutions to each other, then debate the quality of them. Students will also be immersed in additional fun and enriching experiences, such as a cultural talent show, our crisis event, a dance, and a trivia contest. Summit details can be found here, closer to our chosen date.
WHEN ARE MEETINGS, AND HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Listen for announcements about our club through your school news, or teachers. Reach out to your school ambassador, which you can find here. They are extremely knowledgeable, and love to help!
